Gold coin in The History of Gold series dedicated to Queen Maria’s Crown

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 21 December 2015, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a gold coin in The History of Gold series dedicated to Queen Maria’s Crown.

The coin has the following characteristics:

  • Face value: lei 10
  • Metal: gold
  • Fineness: 999‰
  • Shape: round
  • Diameter: 13.92 mm
  • Weight: 1,224 g
  • Quality: proof
  • Edge: milled

Obverse: Queen Maria’s crown, the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the coat of arms of Romania, the face value “10 LEI” and the year of issue “2015”.

Reverse: the portrait of Queen Maria wearing the gold crown; the inscription “COROANA REGINEI MARIA” (Queen Maria’s crown) in an arc.

The gold coins are housed in transparent plastic capsules. They are accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French.

Each leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.

The mintage of this numismatic issue is 500 coins.

The selling price is lei 330.00, VAT excluded, per gold coin, including the leaflet.

The gold coins in The History of Gold series dedicated to Queen Maria’s Crown are legal tender on the territory of Romania.

The gold coins will be put into circulation through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
