Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 16 May 2016, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a gold coin dedicated to the anniversary of 200 years since the birth of Constantin A. Rosetti.
The coin has the following technical characteristics:

- Fineness: 900‰
- Shape: round
- Diameter: 21 mm
- Weight: 6.452 g
- Quality: proof
- Edge: milled
Obverse: a bas-relief on the base of the monument dedicated to C.A. Rosetti in Bucharest evoking his role in achieving the Union of the Romanian Principalities on 24 January 1859, the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the face value “100 LEI”, the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue “2016”.
Reverse: the portrait of C.A. Rosetti, the inscription “CONSTANTIN A. ROSETTI” in an arc and his birth and death years, “1816” and “1885”.
The gold coins are individually housed in transparent plastic capsules. They are accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French. Each leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The mintage of this numismatic issue is 250 gold coins.
The selling price is lei 1,625.00, VAT excluded, per gold coin, including the leaflet.
The gold coins dedicated to the anniversary of 200 years since the birth of Constantin A. Rosetti are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
The gold coins will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
