Numismatic issue: 140 years since the proclamation of Romania’s independence - silver coin

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 8 May 2017, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin dedicated to the anniversary of 140 years since the proclamation of Romania’s independence.
The coin has the following characteristics:
- Face value: lei 10;
- Metal: silver;
- Fineness: 999‰;
- Shape: round;
- Diameter: 37 mm;
- Weight: 31.103 g;
- Quality: proof;
- Edge: milled.
Obverse: a vintage image depicting the triumphal parade of the victorious Romanian troops that fought in the War of Independence, the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the face value “10 Lei”, the coat of arms of Romania, and the year of issue “2017”.
Reverse: the portrait of Carol I and the inscriptions “140 DE ANI DE LA PROCLAMAREA INDEPENDENTEI DE STAT” and “CAROL I” in an arc.
The silver coins are individually housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French. Each leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The mintage of this issue is 200 silver coins.
The selling price is lei 365.00, VAT excluded, per silver coin, including the leaflet.
The silver coins dedicated to the anniversary of 140 years since the proclamation of Romania’s independence are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
The silver coins will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
