Numismatic issue: The History of Gold – the Crown of Queen Elisabeta of Romania

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 18 December 2017, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a gold coin dedicated to The History of Gold – the Crown of Queen Elisabeta of Romania.

The coin has the following characteristics:

  • Face value: Lei 10
  • Metal: gold
  • Fineness: 999‰
  • Shape: round
  • Diameter: 13.92 mm
  • Weight: 1.224 g
  • Quality: proof
  • Edge: milled

Obverse: the gold crown of Queen Elisabeta of Romania, the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the year of issue “2017”, the coat of arms of Romania and the face value “10 LEI”.

Reverse: the portrait of Queen Elisabeta of Romania and the inscription “REGINA ELISABETA A ROMANIEI” in an arc.

The gold coins are individually housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French. Each leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.

The mintage of this issue is 500 gold coins.

The selling price is lei 405.00, VAT excluded, per gold coin, including the leaflet.

The gold coins dedicated to The History of Gold – the Crown of Queen Elisabeta of Romania are legal tender on the territory of Romania.

The gold coins will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
