Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 26 March 2018, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a set of three coins (made of gold, silver and copper-plated tombac) and a brass collector coin launched to mark 100 years since the union of Bessarabia with Romania.

Reverse (common to all coins made of gold, silver, copper-plated tombac and brass): the portraits and names of the three signatories of the Union Act, i.e. Ion Inculeț, Chairman of the National Council, Vice-Chairman Pantelimon Halippa and Secretary Ion Buzdugan; the inscriptions “100 DE ANI DE LA UNIREA BASARABIEI CU ROMANIA” and “27 Martie 1918”.
The coins are individually housed in transparent plastic capsules. The sets of three coins are accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French. Each leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The mintage is as follows:
- 200 sets of three coins (made of gold, silver and copper-plated tombac); and
- 5,000 brass collector coins.
The selling prices are as follows:
- lei 1,990.00, VAT excluded, per set of three coins (made of gold, silver and copper-plated tombac); and
- lei 10.00, VAT excluded, for the brass collector coin.
The gold, silver and copper-plated tombac coins and the brass collector coins launched to mark 100 years since the union of Bessarabia with Romania are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
The sets of three coins and the brass collector coins launched to mark 100 years since the union of Bessarabia with Romania will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi, and Timişoara.
