Numismatic issue dedicated to Michael the Brave, forerunner of the Great Union

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 30 April 2018, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a gold coin dedicated to Michael the Brave, forerunner of the Great Union.
The coin has the following characteristics:
- Metal: gold;
- Face value: lei 100 ;
- Fineness: 900‰;
- Shape: round;
- Diameter: 21 mm;
- Weight: 6.452 g;
- Quality: proof;
- Edge: milled.
Obverse: Michael the Brave riding into Alba Iulia, the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the face value “100 LEI”, the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue “2018”.
Reverse: the portrait of Michael the Brave and the inscriptions “MIHAI VITEAZUL” and “PRECURSOR AL MARII UNIRI”.
The gold coins are individually housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French. Each leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The mintage of this numismatic issue is 250 coins.
The selling price is lei 1,695.00, VAT excluded, per gold coin, including the leaflet.
The gold coins dedicated to Michael the Brave, forerunner of the Great Union are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
The gold coins will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iași and Timișoara.
