Numismatic issues dedicated to History of gold – the 10 ducat coin Michael the Brave

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 24 December 2018, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a gold coin dedicated to History of gold – the 10 ducat coin Michael the Brave.

The coin has the following characteristics:

  • Metal: gold;
  • Face value: lei 10 ;
  • Fineness: 999‰;
  • Shape: round;
  • Diameter: 13.92 mm;
  • Weight: 1.224 g;
  • Quality: proof;
  • Edge: milled.

Obverse: a depiction of Prince Michael the Brave on horseback, the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the face value “10 LEI”, the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue “2018”.

Reverse: centrally, the portrait of Michael the Brave, as depicted on the obverse of the 10 ducat coin Michael the Brave, at the bottom, a reproduction of the reverse of the coin, and the inscription “ISTORIA AURULUI – MONEDA DE 10 DUCATI MIHAI VITEAZUL” in an arc.

The gold coins are individually housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French. Each leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.

The mintage of this issue is 500 gold coins.

The selling price is lei 385.00, VAT excluded, per gold coin, including the leaflet.

The gold coins dedicated to History of gold – the 10 ducat coin Michael the Brave are legal tender on the territory of Romania.

The gold coins will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
