Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 1 April 2019, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin dedicated to 100 years since Romania adopted the Gregorian calendar.
The coin has the following characteristics:
- Face value: lei 10 ;
- Metal: silver;
- Fineness: 999‰;
- Shape: round;
- Diameter: 37 mm;
- Weight: 31.103 g;
- Quality: proof;
- Edge: milled.
Obverse: the portraits and names of King Ferdinand I (on the right) and Prime Minister Ion I. C. Brătianu (on the left), during whose time Romania adopted the Gregorian calendar, two quotations from the law: “Se aprobă de Noi adoptarea calendarului Gregorian.” and “Ziua de 1 Aprilie 1919 devine 14 Aprilie 1919.”, the title of the law “Decret-Lege 1053/1919”, the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the face value “10 LEI”, the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue “2019”.
Reverse: the representation of an astronomical clock and the inscription “100 DE ANI DE LA ADOPTAREA CALENDARULUI GREGORIAN” in an arc.
The silver coins are individually housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French. Each leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The mintage of this issue is 300 silver coins.
The selling price is lei 350.00, VAT excluded, per silver coin, including the leaflet.
The silver coins dedicated to 100 years since Romania adopted the Gregorian calendar are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
The silver coins will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iași and Timișoara.
