Numismatic issues dedicated to 100 years since the birth of Nicolae Cajal

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 5 August 2019, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin dedicated to 100 years since the birth of Nicolae Cajal.
The coin has the following characteristics:
- Face value: 10 lei;
- Metal: silver;
- Fineness: 999‰;
- Shape: round;
- Diameter: 37 mm;
- Weight: 31.1030 g;
- Quality: proof;
- Edge: milled.
Obverse: the building of “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the coat of arms of Romania, the face value “10 LEI” and the year of issue “2019“.
Reverse: the portrait and name of Professor Nicolae Cajal, together with “1919” and “2004”, his birth and death years.
The silver coins are individually housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French. Each leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The mintage of this issue is 300 silver coins.
The silver coins dedicated to 100 years since the birth of Nicolae Cajal are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
The silver coins will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iași and Timișoara.
