Numismatic issues dedicated to the 70 years since the establishment of political and diplomatic relations between Romania and the People’s Republic of China

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 8 November 2019, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin to mark 70 years since the establishment of political and diplomatic relations between Romania and the People’s Republic of China.

The coin has the following characteristics:

  • Face value: lei 10;
  • Metal: silver;
  • Fineness: 999‰;
  • Shape: round;
  • Diameter: 37 mm;
  • Weight: 31.103 g;
  • Quality: proof;
  • Edge: milled.

Obverse: the depiction of Bran Castle, a symbolic historical edifice of Romania, the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the face value “10 LEI”, the year of issue “2019” and the coat of arms of Romania.

Reverse: part of the Great Wall of China, a symbolic historical building of the People’s Republic of China, the circular inscription “STABILIREA RELATIILOR POLITICO-DIPLOMATICE INTRE ROMANIA SI REPUBLICA POPULARA CHINEZA” and the year when the relations between the two countries were established “1949”.

The maximum mintage of this issue is 500 silver coins.

The selling price is lei 395.00, VAT excluded, per silver coin, including the certificate of authenticity.

The silver coins dedicated to the anniversary of 70 years since the establishment of political and diplomatic relations between Romania and the People’s Republic of China are legal tender on the territory of Romania.

The silver coins will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanța, Craiova, Iași and Timișoara.
