Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, on 9 November 2020, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin to mark 100 years since the establishment of the Politehnica University of Timișoara.

Obverse: the portrait of King Ferdinand I, his quote: “Nu zidurile fac o școală, ci spiritul care domnește într-însa.” (It is not the walls that make a school, but the spirit that reigns inside it.), the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the year of issue “2020”, the face value “10 LEI”, and the coat of arms of Romania.
Reverse: the image of the building of the first pavilion of the Polytechnic School of Timișoara, inaugurated in the presence of King Ferdinand I and Queen Maria and the inscriptions “UNIVERSITATEA POLITEHNICA TIMISOARA” and “100 ANI”.
The silver coins, housed in transparent plastic capsules, will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity in Romanian, English and French, bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The maximum mintage of this numismatic issue is 500 silver coins.
The selling price for the silver coin, including the certificate of authenticity, is lei 405.00, VAT excluded.
The silver coins dedicated to 100 years since the establishment of the Politehnica University of Timișoara are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
The silver coins will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanța, Craiova, Iaşi and Timişoara.
