Numismatic issue dedicated to 150 years since the birth of Vladimir Ghika

Should a numismatic issue fall short of the coins intended for online reservation, please be informed that items may be purchased directly from the counters of the NBR’s regional branches, without reservation, starting 27 December 2023.


Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 27 December 2023, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation for numismatic purposes a silver coin dedicated to 150 years since the birth of Vladimir Ghika.

The coin has the following specifications:

Reverse

Obverse: Vladimir Ghika’s statue in Bucharest, the year of issue “2023”, the coat of arms of Romania, the vertical inscription “ROMANIA” and the face value “10 LEI”.

Reverse: the portrait and name of Vladimir Ghika, as well as the inscription “150 DE ANI DE LA NASTERE” in an arc.

The silver coins, housed in transparent plastic capsules, will be accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue, as well as by certificates of authenticity, in Romanian, English and French. Each certificate of authenticity bears the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.

The maximum mintage is 5,000 silver coins.

The selling price for the silver coin, including the leaflet and the certificate of authenticity, is lei 490.00, VAT excluded.

The silver coins dedicated to 150 years since the birth of Vladimir Ghika are legal tender on the territory of Romania.

The coins will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Clu j-Napoca, Constanța, Craiova, Iași and Timișoara.
