Numismatic issue dedicated to 145 years since granting Romanian citizenship to Mauriciu Brociner, the first Romanian Army officer of Jewish descent

As of 30 September 2024, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin to mark 145 years since granting Romanian citizenship to Mauriciu Brociner, the first Romanian Army officer of Jewish descent.

The coin has the following specifications:

Reverse

Obverse: a battle scene from during the War of Independence, the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the coat of arms of Romania, the face value “10 LEI”, and the year of issue “2024”.

Reverse: the portrait and name of Mauriciu Brociner, the first Romanian Army officer of Jewish descent that was granted Romanian citizenship, and “1879”, the year of his naturalisation.

The silver coins are housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by booklets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue and certificates of authenticity in Romanian, English and French. The certificates of authenticity bear the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.

The maximum mintage is 5,000 silver coins.

The selling price for the silver coin, including the booklet and the certificate of authenticity, is lei 510.00, VAT excluded.

The silver coins to mark 145 years since granting Romanian citizenship to Mauriciu Brociner, the first Romanian Army officer of Jewish descent are legal tender on the territory of Romania.

The coins are put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanța, Craiova, Iași and Timișoara.
