International reserves – September 2024

Erratum: The gold stock remained steady at 103.6 tonnes. However, following the change in the international price of gold, its value amounted to EUR 7,885 million.
On 30 September 2024, the National Bank of Romania’s foreign exchange reserves stood at EUR 65,778 million, compared to EUR 63,187 million on 31 August 2024.
During the month, the following flows were recorded:
- EUR 6,050 million worth of inflows representing: changes in credit institutions’ foreign currency-denominated required reserves with the NBR; inflows into the Ministry of Finance’s accounts (including the amounts from the Ministry of Finance’s Eurobond issues with a nominal value of EUR 3,000 million and USD-denominated Eurobonds with a nominal value of approximately EUR 1,890 million) and other;
- EUR 3,459 million worth of outflows representing: changes in credit institutions’ foreign currency-denominated required reserves with the NBR; interest payments and principal repayments on foreign currency public debt (approximately EUR 685 million); payments from the European Commission’s account and other.
The gold stock remained steady at 103.6 tonnes. However, following the change in the international price of gold, its value amounted to EUR 7,855 million.
On 30 September 2024, Romania’s international reserves (foreign currencies and gold) stood at EUR 73,663 million, compared to EUR 70,775 million on 31 August 2024.
During October 2024, the payments due on the foreign currency-denominated public and publicly guaranteed debt amount to approximately EUR 1,850 million.
