NBR's International Reserves in July 2006

At end-July 2006, foreign exchange reserves of the National Bank of Romania amounted to EUR 18,281.1 million.
The EUR 104.1 million increase in the considered month was attributed to the following:
- EUR 324.9 million worth of inflows consisting in incomes from international reserve management, change in the foreign-exchange reserve requirements of commercial banks, surrenders to official foreign exchange reserves, a.s.o.;
- EUR 220.8 million worth of outflows consisting in principal repayments and interest payments on public and publicly guaranteed external debt, the change in foreign-exchange reserve requirements of commercial banks, bank commissions, a.s.o.
The gold stock remained at 104.8 tonnes. As a result of the developments in the world price of gold, its value rose to EUR 1,681.7 million. Therefore, the international reserves of the National Bank of Romania (foreign exchange and gold) ran at more than EUR 19.96 billion.
By the end of 2006, payments due on public and publicly guaranteed external debt work out at EUR 337 million.
