Medium- and long-term external debt increased by 11 percent against December 2001 and totalled USD 13,008 million at end-June 2002.
Public and publicly guaranteed debt amounted to USD 8,632 million at end-June 2002, accounting for 66.4 percent of the medium-and long-term debt (against 65.8 percent at end-December 2001). In the first half of 2002, external private debt rose by 9.2 percent, reaching USD 4,376 million at end- June 2002.
