Press release of Bank Deposit Guarantee Fund

The Bank Deposit Guarantee Fund informs the public of the following:
Notice is hereby given by the Bank Guarantee Fund that pursuant to Article 5, paragraph 2 of Romanian Government Ordinance No. 39/1996 on establishment and operation of the Bank Guarantee Fund, republished in Monitorul Oficial al României, Part 1, No. 141/25 February 2002, approved and amended by Law 88/1999, as amended and supplemented subsequently, the guaranteed ceiling is altered every six months following its indexation by reference to the consumer price index notified by the National Commission of Statistics.
Consequently, the deposits held by individuals with banks subject to the provisions of the aforesaid law are currently guaranteed to the limit of ROL 100,453,000.
This ceiling represents the amount covered by the Fund for deposits held by individuals with banks facing insolvency during the first half of 2002.
