Press release on withdrawal from circulation of the ROL 5,000 note - year of issue 1998

The National Bank of Romania once again states that starting with 30 June 2002, the ROL 5,000 banknote - year of issue 1998, ceases to be legal tender.
Between 17 - 30 June 2002, the ROL 5,000 banknote - year of issue 1998 will be accepted only by banks from individuals, economic agents and other institutions, for payment or exchange.
Between 1 July 2002 and 30 September 2002, the ROL 5,000 banknotes - 1998 issue, which ceased to be legal tender, may be exchanged by the National Bank of Romania branches only.
