For numismatic purposes, the National Bank of Romania shall issue, starting 21 February 2005, a gold coin in the series History of money - replica of the Dacian Koson coin.
Characteristics of the coin:
- shape: round;
- metal: gold;
- fineness: 999/1000;
- weight: 8.50 grams;
- diameter: 20 mm.
The obverse: in the centre, three men pictured going to the left (one Roman consul accompanied by two lictors - attendants of high Roman officials); below, the inscription in Greek "KOSON"; around, a pearled circle.
The reverse: an eagle with open wings, side faced to the left, one leg on a sceptre and a wreath in its right claw; around, a pearled circle.
To avoid confusion between the replica issued by the National Bank of Romania and the original coin, the monogram "R" (replica) is inscribed inside the wreath on the reverse.
Each gold coin, encapsulated in transparent plastic cases, is accompanied by an authentication certificate (in Romanian and English) bearing the signature of both Governor of the National Bank of Romania and Head Cashier.
The issue of 250 coins is to be sold on both domestic and foreign markets.
The price of ROL 6,600,000 per coin does not include the VAT of 19 percent. The cost of metacrylate capsules and authentication certificate is contained in the above-mentioned price.
The coins are sold in adequate cases, the cost of which is not included in the above-mentioned price.
The issue of gold coins in the series History of money - replica of the Dacian Koson coin is to be sold by the National Bank of Romania branches in Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi and Timis.
