Pursuant to Law No. 312/2004 - The NBR Act and Ordinance No. 45/1998 issued by the Government of Romania, as approved by Law No. 244/1998, on vesting the National Bank of Romania with the power to put into circulation numismatic coins made of precious metals, the National Bank of Romania will issue starting 5 December 2005 a gold coin with face value of RON 10 in the series "History of Gold - The Perşinari Hoard".
Features of the coin:

- edge: milled;
- diameter: 13.92 mm.
Obverse: shows the face value of "10 LEI", the inscription "ROMANIA" and the year of issue "2005". In the middle, Romania's coat-of-arms, is placed in a rhomb-shaped inset, decorated with geometrical motifs on the outside.
Reverse: features a sword with long triangular blade and semi-oval hilt-guard, as well as four daggers with longitudinal rib and wing-like handles, all the artefacts being part of the Perşinari Hoard. The inscriptions "TEZAUR" and "PERSINARI" are engraved on the upper part and the lower part respectively.
The gold coins are encapsulated in transparent plastic cases and are accompanied by an authentication certificate (in Romanian and English) bearing the signature of both the Governor and the Head Cashier, as well as by a leaflet.
The issue of 1,000 coins is priced at RON 166 (ROL 1,660,000) per coin. The cost of the capsules, authentication certificate, and leaflet is included in the above-mentioned price.
The coins will be sold in adequate cases. The price does not include that of the case and the VAT (19 percent).
For numismatic purposes, the gold coins issued by the National Bank of Romania may be purchased by natural and legal persons. They may be held or exchanged by observing the provisions of Art. 2 of Ordinance No. 45/1998 issued by the Government of Romania, as approved by Law No. 244/1998.
The gold coins in the series "History of Gold - The Perşinari Hoard" are legal tender in Romania.
The design of the coins is protected by registration with the State Office of Trademarks in Romania. Forgery or counterfeiting of these coins is an infringement of the law and shall be penalised accordingly.
The gold coins of the issue will be put into circulation for numismatic purposes through the NBR branches in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
