Numismatic issue - a gold coin dedicated to the "Cucuteni Băiceni Hoard", in "The History of Gold" numismatic series

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 - The Statute of the NBR, the National Bank of Romania is to launch, starting with 16 October 2006, a gold coin with face value of lei 10, dedicated to the "Cucuteni Băiceni Hoard", in "The History of Gold" numismatic series.
Features of the coin:
- metal: gold;
- shape: round;
- fineness: 999/1000;
- quality: proof;
- weight: 1.224 grams;
- diameter: 13.92 mm;
- edge: scalloped.
Obverse: in the upper part, the face value "10 LEI" and Romania's coat of arms; in the lower part, a harness decoration in the Cucuteni Băiceni hoard and the inscription "ROMANIA".
Reverse: in the middle, the depiction of the cheek piece of the gold helmet in the Cucuteni Băiceni hoard featuring a figure performing a ritual and the circular text "TEZAURUL CUCUTENI BAICENI".
Each gold coin is embedded in a transparent plastic case and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity (in Romanian and English) bearing the signatures of both the Governor and the Head Cashier of the National Bank of Romania, as well as by an issue prospectus.
The issue consists of 500 coins. The selling price, VAT excluded, is RON 175.00 and does not include the cost of the case.
The gold coins dedicated to the "Cucuteni Băiceni Hoard" are legal tender in Romania.
The design of the gold coins is protected by registration with the State Office of Trademarks in Romania. Forgery or counterfeiting of these coins is an infringement and shall be penalised according to the law.
The coins in the issue "Cucuteni Băiceni Hoard" are to be put into circulation for numismatic purposes through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
