Numismatic issues: "130th anniversary of the National Bank of Romania" (three coins set) and “Eugeniu Carada - the founder of the National Bank of Romania” (single gold coin)

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 – The Statute of the National Bank of Romania, on 30 April 2010, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a gold coin, a silver coin and a coppered tombac coin occasioned by the “130th anniversary of the National Bank of Romania” and a gold coin dedicated to “Eugeniu Carada – the founder of the National Bank of Romania”.

The gold, silver and coppered tombac coins in the numismatic issue “130th anniversary of the National Bank of Romania” have the following features:

Obverse: the year of issue “2010”, the image of the New Palace of the National Bank of Romania, the coat of arms of Romania, the face values (“200 LEI”, “10 LEI” and “1 LEU”) and, engraved in an arc, the inscription “ROMANIA”.

Reverse: the year of establishment of the central bank “1880”, the image of the Old Palace of the National Bank of Romania, the NBR’s logo inside an ornamented shield framed by the inscription “130 ANI” and the half-circle inscription “BANCA NATIONALA A ROMANIEI”.

The selling prices, VAT not included, are the following: leu 2,600 (the gold coin), leu 170 (the silver coin) and leu 60 (the coppered tombac coin).

The gold coins dedicated to “Eugeniu Carada – the founder of the National Bank of Romania” have the following characteristics:

Obverse: the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the coat-of-arms of Romania and the face value “100 LEI”, the image of the Old Palace of the National Bank of Romania and the year of issue “2010”.

Reverse: the portrait of Eugeniu Carada surrounded by the circular inscriptions “EUGENIU CARADA” and “CTITORUL BANCII NATIONALE A ROMANIEI” and the years “1836” and “1910” on the right side of the portrait.

For the gold coin, the selling price, VAT not included, is leu 1,100.

The gold, silver and coppered tombac coins occasioned by the “130th anniversary of the National Bank of Romania” and the gold coins dedicated to “Eugeniu Carada – the founder of the National Bank of Romania” are housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by leaflets featuring an overview of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French. The leaflets come with certificates of authenticity bearing the signatures of both the Governor and the Head Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.

The coins can also be displayed in appropriate cases having the NBR logo – BNR – inscribed on the lid. The above-mentioned prices do not include the price of the case.
