Press Release on the Meeting of the National Committee for Financial Stability

On 7 October 2010, the meeting of the National Committee for Financial Stability was held.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Mugur Isărescu, Governor of the National Bank of Romania and Chairman of the National Committee for Financial Stability, Gheorghe Gherghina, secretary of state in the Ministry of Public Finance, Mrs. Gabriela Victoria Anghelache, President of the National Securities Commission, Mrs. Angela Toncescu, President of the Insurance Supervisory Commission and Mr. Mircea Oancea, President of the Private Pension Supervision Commission.
The members of the National Committee for Financial Stability analyzed the recent developments of the Romanian financial system and concluded that it is stable. There was also an exchange of views on the recent debates at European level in the field of financial crisis prevention and management. In this context, the members of the committee examined aspects regarding bank resolution funds, financial transactions tax, as well as the new legislative proposal of the European Commission on bank deposit guarantee.
