Numismatic issue - a silver coin dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of writer Liviu Rebreanu

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 – The Statute of the National Bank of Romania, on 10 December 2010, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of writer Liviu Rebreanu.

The coin has the following characteristics:

  • Face value: lei 10
  • Metal: silver
  • Fineness: 999‰
  • Shape: round
  • Diameter: 37 mm
  • Weight: 31.103 g
  • Quality: proof
  • Edge: milled

Obverse: a graphic composition overlapping a circle and suggesting the novel “Ion” by Liviu Rebreanu; above, the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the coat of arms of Romania, the face value – “10 LEI” and the year of issue “2010”.

Reverse: the portrait of Liviu Rebreanu overlapping a circle; to the left, the writer’s birth and death years “1885-1944” and the inscription “LIVIU REBREANU” in an arc; lower to the right, his signature.

The silver coin, housed in a transparent plastic case, will be accompanied by a leaflet featuring an overview of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French.

The leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of both the Governor and the Head Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.

The numismatic issue includes 1,000 coins.

The selling price of the silver coin in the numismatic issue dedicated to Liviu Rebreanu is lei 250.00, excluding VAT.

The silver coins in the numismatic issue “The 125th Anniversary of the Birth of Liviu Rebreanu” are legal tender on the territory of Romania.

The collector silver coins will be put into circulation through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
