Numismatic issue - a gold coin dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the proclamation of the kingdom of Romania

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, on 10 May 2011, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation a collector gold coin dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the proclamation of the kingdom of Romania.

The gold coin has the following characteristics:

  • face value: lei 100
  • metal: gold
  • fineness: 900‰
  • shape: round
  • diameter: 21 mm
  • weight: 6.452 g
  • quality: proof
  • edge: milled.

Obverse: Peleş Castle and the coat of arms of Romania; above, the face value “100 LEI”; below, the year of issue “2011”; on the rim, in the upper part, the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc.

Reverse: the 1881 coat of arms of the Kingdom of Romania and the portrait of King Carol I, in the lower part, overlapping the portrait, the inscription “10 MAI 1881” and the king’s signature; on the rim, the inscriptions “130 ANI” and “PROCLAMAREA REGATULUI ROMANIEI” in an arc.

The gold coins are housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by leaflets featuring a brief presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French. Each leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of both the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.

The mintage of this numismatic issue is 500.

The selling price of the gold coin making up this numismatic issue is lei 1,450.00 excluding VAT.

The gold coins in the numismatic issue “130 Years since the Proclamation of the Kingdom of Romania” are legal tender on the territory of Romania.

The collector gold coins will be put into circulation through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
