At end-October 2012, non-government loans granted by credit institutions declined by 0.3 percent (down 0.6 percent in real terms) from September 2012 to RON 230,106.9 million. RON-denominated loans decreased 0.3 percent (down 0.6 percent in real terms), whereas foreign currency-denominated loans fell by 0.3 percent when expressed in RON and by 0.4 percent when expressed in EUR. At end-October 2012, non-government loans climbed by 4.1 percent (down 0.8 percent in real terms) year on year, on the back of the 4.7 percent rise in RON-denominated loans (down 0.2 percent in real terms) and the 3.8 percent advance in foreign currency-denominated loans expressed in RON (when expressed in EUR, forex loans dropped 1.1 percent).

Government credit1 was down 0.8 percent in October 2012 to RON 77,751.3 million. At end-October 2012, government credit increased by 22.9 percent (17.0 percent in real terms) from the same year-ago period.
Deposits of non-government resident customers went up 0.4 percent month on month to RON 194,944.1 million in October 2012.

RON-denominated household deposits edged up 0.1 percent to RON 74,996.1 million. At end-October 2012, household deposits in domestic currency jumped 8.2 percent (3.1 percent in real terms) against the same year-ago period.
RON-denominated corporate deposits (non-financial corporations and non-monetary financial institutions) declined by 0.8 percent to RON 49,875.4 million. At end-October 2012, RON-denominated corporate deposits decreased by 0.3 percent (down 5.0 percent in real terms) year on year.
Forex-denominated deposits of resident households and corporates (non-financial corporations and non-monetary financial institutions) increased by 1.6 percent to RON 70,072.6 million when expressed in domestic currency (when expressed in EUR, forex deposits added 1.5 percent to EUR 15,448.8 million). In year-on-year comparison, residents’ forex deposits expressed in RON advanced 16.2 percent (when expressed in EUR, residents’ forex deposits went up 10.8 percent); household forex deposits grew by 14.9 percent when expressed in domestic currency (when expressed in EUR, household forex deposits stood 9.5 percent higher) and forex deposits of corporates (non-financial corporations and non-monetary financial institutions) rose by 18.9 percent when expressed in RON (when expressed in EUR, forex deposits of resident corporates expanded by 13.3 percent).
