NBR's International Reserves in June 2008

At end-June 2008, foreign exchange reserves of the National Bank of Romania stood at EUR 24,915 million.
The EUR 214 million decrease recorded in the reported month was due to the following:
- EUR 1,368.94 million worth of inflows representing the equivalent value of the Eurobond issue by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the change in the foreign-exchange reserve requirements of credit institutions, the funds deposited in the account of the European Commission, a.s.o.
- EUR 1,582.94 million worth of outflows consisting in principal repayments and interest payments on public and publicly guaranteed external debt (including payment in relation to the 2001 Eurobond issue maturing), payments to the European Commission, the change in the foreign-exchange reserve requirements of credit institutions, a.s.o.
The gold stock remained at 103.7 tonnes. However, following the developments in the world price of gold, its value rose to EUR 1,966 million, taking the international reserves of the National Bank of Romania (foreign currencies and gold) to EUR 26,881 million.
In July 2008, payments due on public and publicly guaranteed external debt amount to EUR 79 million.
