Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, on 1 July 2013, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation a set of three collector coins (made of gold, silver and coppered tombac) dedicated to 140 years since the establishment of military communications.

Reverse, the same for all three coins: a war telegraph carriage – a replica of a drawing by Sava Henția (1877); a military signaller in World War I reproduced after the statue on the Monument dedicated to the Heroes of the Combat Engineering Corps, known as “Lion”, in Bucharest; the inscriptions “1873” and “140 DE ANI”; on the outer ring, the inscription “TELECOMUNICATII MILITARE” in an arc.
The set of coins is housed in transparent plastic capsules and is accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French. The leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The mintage of this numismatic issue is 250 sets of coins (made of gold, silver and coppered tombac).
The selling price, excluding VAT, of the set of three coins (made of gold, silver and coppered tombac) is lei 1,750.00, which includes the leaflet.
The gold, silver and coppered tombac coins dedicated to 140 years since the establishment of military communications are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
The set of collector coins will be put into circulation through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj‑Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
