Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, on 14 August 2013, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin, a coppered tombac coin and a set of three coins (made of gold, silver and coppered tombac) dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Maria Tănase’s birth.

Reverse, the same for all the coins (made of gold, silver and coppered tombac): Maria Tănase’s portrait and the inscription “MARIA TANASE” and the years of her life “1913-1963” in an arc.
The gold, silver and coppered tombac coins are housed separately, in transparent plastic capsules. The silver and coppered tombac coins, as well as the sets of coins are accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French.
Each leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The mintage of this numismatic issue is the following:
- 500 silver coins;
- 250 coppered tombac coins;
- 100 sets of coins (made of gold, silver and coppered tombac).
The selling prices are the following:
- Lei 300.00 excluding VAT per silver coin, including the leaflet;
- Lei 80.00 excluding VAT per coppered tombac coin, including the leaflet;
- Lei 1,810.00 excluding VAT per set of three coins (made of gold, silver and coppered tombac), including the leaflet.
The gold, silver and coppered tombac coins dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Maria Tănase’s birth are legal tender in Romania.
The silver and coppered tombac coins and the set of coins will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
