The National Bank of Romania will launch, for numismatic purposes, a gold coin dedicated to the rhyton of Poroina, a piece of goldsmith's craft dating from the Geto-Dacian period and representing a hornlike drinking vessel.

In accordance with the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 - The Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as from 28 December 2007, the National Bank of Romania is to launch, for numismatic purposes, a gold coin dedicated to the rhyton of Poroina, a piece of goldsmith's craft dating from the Geto-Dacian period and representing a hornlike drinking vessel.
Characteristics of the gold coin:
- face value: lei 10;
- shape: round;
- diameter: 13.92 mm;
- fineness: 999/1000;
- weight: 1.224 g;
- quality: proof;
- edge: milled.
Obverse: side view of the rhyton of Poroina, Romania's coat of arms, the face value of "10 LEI", the year of issue - 2007, and the circular inscription "ROMANIA".
Reverse: front view of the rhyton of Poroina, framed by two characters on the rhyton's neck; the circular inscription "RHYTONUL DE LA POROINA".
The coins come in transparent plastic capsules, along with leaflets describing the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French.
Each leaflet includes the certificate of authenticity, bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Head Cashier of the National Bank of Romania. The coins will be sold in appropriate cases bearing the NBR logo - BNR - on the lid.
The numismatic issue consists of 500 coins.
The National Bank of Romania branches in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara are in charge of putting into circulation, for numismatic purposes, the gold coins dedicated to the rhyton of Poroina.
