Numismatic issue: a gold coin dedicated to the history of gold – the Four Gospels of Hurezi Monastery

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, on 16 December 2013, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a gold coin dedicated to the history of gold – the Four Gospels of Hurezi Monastery.
The coin has the following characteristics:
- Face value: Lei 10
- Metal: gold
- Fineness: 999‰
- Shape: round
- Diameter: 13.92 mm
- Weight: 1.224 g
- Quality: proof
- Edge: milled
Obverse: a fragment of the Resurrection of Christ icon presenting the Descent into Hell, as depicted on the gold covers of the Four Gospels of Hurezi Monastery; the face value “10 LEI”; “ROMANIA” inscribed in an arc; the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue “2013”.
Reverse: the portrait and name of Prince Constantin Brâncoveanu; the main church; the kiosk and the chapel of Hurezi Monastery; the Four Gospels donated to the monastery by the prince, and „TETRAEVANGHELIARUL DE LA HUREZI” inscribed in an arc.
The gold coins are housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French.
Each leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The mintage of this numismatic issue is 500.
The selling price per gold coin, including the leaflet, is lei 310.00 excluding VAT.
The gold coin dedicated to the history of gold – the Four Gospels of Hurezi Monastery is legal tender on the territory of Romania.
These collector coins will be put into circulation through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj‑Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
