Mint set dedicated to the anniversary of 150 years since the establishment of the National School of Fine Arts

Pursuant to the provisions of Law 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, on 12 May 2014, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a mint set dedicated to the anniversary of 150 years since the establishment of the National School of Fine Arts (today’s Bucharest University of Fine Arts).

The mint set comprises the Romanian coins in circulation of ban 1, bani 5, bani 10, bani 50 and commemorative coins of bani 50 (Aurel Vlaicu, Mircea cel Bătrân, Neagoe Basarab and Vladislav I Vlaicu), as well as a silver medal.

The silver medal has the following technical characteristics:

  • Metal: silver
  • Fineness: 800‰
  • Shape: round
  • Diameter: 28 mm
  • Weight: 15.5 g
  • Quality: proof
  • Edge: flat

Obverse of the medal: portrait of the painter Theodor Aman and his name, the building hosting the National School of Arts, the institution logo and the inscription “150”; on the outer ring, the inscriptions “BUCURESTI” and “UNIVERSITATEA NATIONALA DE ARTE” in an arc.

The mint set comes in the form of a leaflet housed in a case, with its components inserted in specially-designed slots. The silver medal and the coins in the set are of proof quality.

The mintage of this numismatic issue is 500 mint sets.

The selling price is lei 225.00, VAT excluded, per mint set.

The mint sets will be put into circulation through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
