Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, on 15 December 2014, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a set of three coins (made of gold, silver and copper-plated tombac) as well as a silver coin dedicated to the anniversary of 150 years since the establishment of CEC Bank.
The coins (made of gold, silver and copper-plated tombac) in the set have the following technical characteristics:

Obverse of the gold coin: the portrait, the signature and the name of Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza, the inscription “ROMANIA”, the year of issue “2014”, the coat of arms of Romania and the face value “100 LEI”.
Obverse of the silver coin: the portrait, the signature and the name of Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza, the inscription “ROMANIA”, the year of issue “2014”, the coat of arms of Romania and the face value “10 LEI”.
Obverse of the copper-plated tombac coin: the portrait, the signature and the name of Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza, the inscription “ROMANIA”, the year of issue “2014”, the coat of arms of Romania and the face value “1 LEU”.
Reverse (common to all coins made of gold, silver and copper-plated tombac in the set) : the CEC Palace in Bucharest and the inscriptions “CEC BANK” and “150 ANI”.
The silver coin has the same technical characteristics and description as the silver coin included in the set.
The gold, silver and copper-plated tombac coins are individually housed in transparent plastic capsules.
The sets of coins and the silver coins are accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French. Each leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The mintage of this numismatic issue is:
- 150 sets of coins (made of gold, silver and copper-plated tombac)
- 250 silver coins
Selling prices are:
- lei 1,915.00, VAT excluded, per set of three coins (made of gold, silver and copper-plated tombac), including the leaflet; and
- lei 320.00, VAT excluded, per silver coin, including the leaflet.
The gold, silver and copper-plated tombac coins dedicated to the anniversary of 150 years since the establishment of CEC Bank are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
The sets of coins and the silver coins will be put into circulation through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
