NBR compiles the balance of payments and other papers on Romania’s international investment position by consolidating the statistical information collected under the provisions of its Statute, as well as of its own regulations.

From September 2014 onwards, data sets concerning external statistics will be compiled and published according to the new international standards in statistics presented in the IMF’s Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual (sixth edition, BPM6) that replaces the previous version of the Manual (fifth edition, BPM5). The information is published according to an advance release calendar and it is structured as follows:

• Balance of payments
• International trade in services
• Direct investment - directional principle
• External debt - structure by debtors and creditors, External debt service
• External debt - structure by institutional sector, term and financial instruments
• International investment position

The latest figures are provisional and will be revised at the next reporting or annual data completion. Most data series are also available in the website Interactive database.
