Data sets in this section draw on the statistics provided by the monetary financial institutions. The data contribute to outlining the financial flows in the economy and serve as the basis for the decision-making process for monetary policy and financial stability.

The indicators calculated based on the consolidated monetary balance sheet of monetary financial institutions statistics are the following:

• Broad money M3 and its counterpart
• Loans by institutional sector
  • Loans to households
  • Loans to financial corporations other than MFIs, to general government and to non-residents
  • Loans to non-financial corporations
• Deposits by institutional sector
  • Household deposits
  • Deposits from financial corporations other than MFIs
  • Deposits from non-financial corporations
• Loans to and deposits of non-bank, non-government customers by county

By the entry into force, on January 1, 2022, of Regulation no. 4/2021 on the reporting of data and statistical information to the National Bank of Romania (Romanian only), the reporting “The structure of loans and deposits of non-banks, non-government customers by county” is no longer compiled.

Other aggregated indicators for credit institutions are calculated based on credit institutions’ prudential reports.

Data sets are published according to the release calendar, most of them being available in the interactive database.
