  2. 15/07/2024 Balance of payments and external debt – May 2024 In January - May 2024, the current account posted a deficit of EUR 9,175 mill. compared with EUR 6,879 mill. in the same year-ago period. Non-residents direct investment totalled EUR 3,342 mill., compared with EUR 2,465 mill. YoY. LT external debt at end-May 2024 ran at EUR 130,997 mill., up 7.6% against end-2023. ST external debt amounted to EUR 44,756 mill., down 7.4% from end-2023.

  5. 05/07/2024 NBR Board decisions on monetary policy The NBR Board decided to cut the monetary policy rate at 6.75% p.a., to lower the lending (Lombard) facility rate at 7.75% p.a., the deposit facility rate at 5.75% p.a. and to maintain the existing levels of minimum reserve requirement ratios on both leu- and foreign currency-denominated liabilities of credit institutions.
  6. 01/07/2024 International reserves – June 2024 On 30 June 2024, the National Bank of Romania’s foreign exchange reserves stood at EUR 64,392 million, compared to EUR 65,072 million on 31 May 2024. The gold stock remained steady at 103.6 tonnes. On 30 June 2024, Romania’s international reserves (foreign currencies and gold) stood at EUR 71,641 million, compared to EUR 72,269 million on 31 May 2024.
  7. 25/06/2024 Monetary indicators - May 2024 In May 2024, RON loans to non-government sector (68.8% of total) grew by 0.6% month-on-month, whilst foreign currency-denominated loans expressed in RON (31.2% of total) rose by 0.2%. In year-on-year comparison, loans to non-government sector advanced 5.7%, on the back of the 7.6% increase in RON-denominated loans and the 1.6% rise in foreign currency-denominated loans expressed in RON.
